RESOLUTION

body

WHEREAS, the 2020-2030 Dakota County Groundwater Plan identified the need for the “installation of monitoring wells to collect long-term water quality and water level data in high nitrate groundwater areas of the county” (tactic 1B1D); and

WHEREAS, Dakota County is partnering with the Minnesota Department of Agriculture (MDA) to install an environmental well network throughout rural Dakota County; and

WHEREAS, the original well driller contract amount of $95,000 needs to be increased by $25,000 to install two to four new monitoring wells, which would result in a total of eight to ten wells to be installed in 2022; and

WHEREAS, additional wells are needed because the County and MDA combined should have at least three to five wells per township to be statistically valid; and

WHEREAS, the amendment extends the contract term from August 30, 2022, to December 31, 2022; and

WHEREAS, the Environmental Resources Department has sufficient funds available in the 2022 capital improvement project budget to increase the cost by $25,000 for a total contract amount of $120,000.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, That the Dakota County Board of Commissioners hereby authorizes the Environmental Resources Department Director to amend the contract with Midwestern Drilling, LLC, for the groundwater monitoring well network installation for a total contract amount of $120,000, subject to approval by the County Attorney’s Office as to form.
