PURPOSE/ACTION REQUESTED
Receive an update on Family Resource Center planning and discuss upcoming grant opportunity to support implementation.
SUMMARY
County staff and community partners have been exploring the potential to develop Family Resource Centers in Dakota County. Family Resource Centers would offer a range of services and supports to meet children and family's needs in community settings, with the goal of promoting family well-being and preventing involvement in child protection and other crisis services.
In June 2023, Dakota County was awarded a grant from the Sauer Family Foundation to assess community needs and determine services most important to include in a Family Resource Center model in Dakota County. Staff will provide an overview of community assessment results, including lessons learned from pop-up resource events hosted by partner organizations throughout Fall 2023.
Staff will also share information about a Sauer Family Foundation grant opportunity due in May 2024 which could support the county and community partners in implementing Family Resource Centers.
