PURPOSE/ACTION REQUESTED
Authorize acceptance of $10,035,000 in federal funding and amend the 2024 Capital Improvement Program (CIP) budgets for costs associated with the Veterans Memorial Greenway and Interstate 35 and County State Aid Highway 50.

SUMMARY
By Resolution No. 23-056 (January 3, 2023), the County Board adopted a Legislative Platform which included positions of support for the use of federal funding for priority projects. In 2023, the United States Congress appropriated funds through the Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2023 for the following Dakota County projects:

* Veterans Memorial Greenway $4,995,000
* I-35 & CSAH 50 Interchange Reconstruction $5,040,000

RECOMMENDATION
recommendation
Staff requests authorization to accept the new federal funding in the amount of $10,035,000.

EXPLANATION OF FISCAL/FTE IMPACTS
A budget amendment is needed to amend the 2024 Parks and Transportation CIP budgets for the appropriated federal funds. The acceptance of these funds will not require any additional County match for any of the projects and will subsequently decrease the amount of County funding being used for Veterans Memorial Greenway and the Interstate 35 and County State Aid Highway 50 Interchange Reconstruction. The exact amount of County savings for each project is currently unknown.
