Update On 2025 Medical Plan Request For Proposal Process

PURPOSE/ACTION REQUESTED

Provide an update on the 2025 medical plan Request for Proposal (RFP) process.

SUMMARY

Employee Relations will be seeking competitive proposals for the County Medical plan for 2025. The RFP will be released in mid-April 2024.

In 2022, the County medical plan had recently changed to UMR for administration of the medical plan due to United Health Group purchasing PreferredOne. Being UMR was not a vendor the County formally selected through a formal RFP process; it has been determined to hold an RFP process for 2025 medical vendors.

The County is requesting the assistance of Deloitte Consulting to assist with this project. There will be an employee feedback session in March to provide feedback on the consumer experience they are seeking from a third party medical vendor.

The goal is to complete the RFP process by the end of July and present recommendations to the Board in August. The end result is to continue to offer a sustainable health care plan with good customer service and process that will continue to attract and retain high-quality employees.
