WHEREAS, the Omnibus Environment and Natural Resources Finance bill awarded Dakota County $458,000 through a Department of Natural Resources grant program to fund improvements to the Swing Bridge Trailhead and historic Rock Island Swing Bridge along the Mississippi River Greenway, including LED lighting; and
WHEREAS, a State funding source reduces the burden on local taxpayers for regional improvements; and
WHEREAS, the City of Inver Grove Heights owns and operates the historic Rock Island Swing Bridge and will lead the installation of LED lighting, providing a regional draw to the site along the Mississippi River Greenway; and
WHEREAS, Dakota County will act as fiscal agent in the distribution of Department of Natural Resources grant funds to the City of Inver Grove Heights, via reimbursement of work completed, for LED light installation at the Rock Island Bridge.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, That the Dakota County Board of Commissioners hereby authorizes the execution of the Department of Natural Resources grant agreement and acceptance of the grant funds for the installation of LED lighting on the Rock Island Swing Bridge; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That the Dakota County Board of Commissioners hereby authorizes the Physical Development Director to enter into a joint powers agreement with the City of Inver Grove Heights for construction of LED lighting on the Rock Island Swing Bridge; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That the 2024 Parks Capital Improvement Program Budget is hereby amended as follows:
