Authorize contract ratification with Ultimate One Transportation, Inc., doing business as (dba) Street Fleet Courier and Logistics, for interoffice and library mail delivery services.
SUMMARY
Dakota County uses a contracted delivery service to move interoffice mail between the main service centers, Juvenile Service center, Empire Maintenance Facility, Extension and Conservation Center, and Dakota 911. This service also moves library books and related materials between the ten County library locations.
The last contract ended on December 31, 2021. Staff advertised for services for 2022 with contract extension options through 2024. Staff executed the initial 2022 contract and the extension for 2023. However, with the financial system limitations, the extension for 2024 was not executed prior to the expiration at the end of 2023. For this reason, this requested action is to execute a new contract for 2024 with all of the previous terms, had this simply been the planned extension. The current contract extension ended on December 31, 2023. This service has worked well with the current vendor for the past eight years, and their bid reflects a continuation of services with the current staff. The rate for 2024 is $101,172, which is a three percent increase over the 2023 rates.
The request for bid was publicly advertised on October 1, 2021.
For reference, bids were received and tabulated on October 15, 2021. Associated Courier, Inc., doing business as Street Fleet submitted the bid amounts below. They have since changed their legal name to Utlimate Transportation Inc., doing business as Street Fleet Courier and Logistics.
