Update From Criminal Justice Network Joint Powers Organization
end
PURPOSE/ACTION REQUESTED
Receive an update from Criminal Justice Network staff on issues occurring within the joint powers organization.
SUMMARY
The Criminal Justice Network (CJN) provides applications and services focused on information sharing and integration among Dakota County law enforcement agencies, the County Sheriff, County Attorney, departments within county government, Dakota County District Court, and law enforcement agencies across the state. CJN started out as a department within Dakota County and transitioned to a joint powers organization starting in 2022.
Currently the cities of Burnsville, Farmington, Hastings, Inver Grove Heights, Mendota Heights, Rosemount, South St. Paul, and West St. Paul are members of the joint powers organization board along with the Dakota County Sheriff’s Office and the City of Plymouth.
Dakota County makes a significant investment into CJN each year as a part of the five-year joint powers agreement that runs through 2026. Staff thought it would be a good idea to provide an update of activities occurring with the CJN organization. CJN staff will provide the update to the County Board.
