BACKGROUND
Dakota County, in partnership with the City of Farmington and the City of Lakeville, is advancing County Project (CP) 97-229 into corridor study and preliminary engineering design. CP 97-229 covers approximately 1.6 miles of future alignment for CSAH 60/CR 64.
The project will confirm or modify the recommended alignment from the Dakota County East-West Corridor Preservation Study Phase 2, completed in 2006, and refine the preferred corridor alignment for the future roadway. This study will help to assess current and projected transportation needs along the corridor and strengthen corridor preservation efforts. It will also prepare the transportation network to safely and efficiently accommodate future travel demands while protecting community and environmental resources. Dakota County, the City of Farmington, and the City of Lakeville propose to execute a joint powers agreement governing CP 97-229. The agreement will define each agency’s responsibilities and outline a cost share structure of 55% for the County and 22.5% for each city, consistent with the Transportation Cost Share Policy in the Dakota County 2040 Transportation Plan (July 2021), as amended September 22, 2026.
The adopted 2026-2030 Transportation Capital Improvement Program identifies CP 97-229 for advancement during the current planning period.
