PURPOSE/ACTION REQUESTED

Approve revisions to policies 3122 Job Evaluation and Classification and 3160 Compensation Guidelines as summarized below and reflected in the revised versions attached.

 

SUMMARY

Human Resources is recommending the following revisions as follows:

 

Policy 3122 Job Evaluation and Classification

                     Add definitions for “Classification” and Salary Grade”

                     Revise section heading and clarifying process for “Classifying New Positions”

                     Revise/Update antiquated language throughout

 

Policy 3160 Compensation Guidelines

                     Revise language for Salary Offers to New Employees to comply with Minnesota Pay History Ban law

                     Revise language for Promotions to comply with Minnesota Pay History Ban law

                     Revise/Update antiquated language throughout

WHEREAS, Human Resources is recommending changes to policies 3122 Job Evaluation and Classification and 3160 Compensation Guidelines; and

 

WHEREAS, the following revisions are recommended:

 

Policy 3122 Job Evaluation and Classification

                     Add definitions for “Classification” and Salary Grade”

                     Revise section heading and clarifying process for “Classifying New Positions”

                     Revise/Update antiquated language throughout

 

Policy 3160 Compensation Guidelines

                     Revise language for Salary Offers to New Employees to comply with Minnesota Pay History Ban law

                     Revise language for Promotions to comply with Minnesota Pay History Ban law

                     Revise/Update antiquated language throughout

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, That the Dakota County Board of Commissioners hereby adopts the proposed revisions to policy 3122 Job Evaluation and Classification and 3160 Compensation Guidelines and authorizes the Human Resources Director to modify said policy accordingly.
