end
PURPOSE/ACTION REQUESTED
Authorize the Board Chair to provide a letter of support for the Trunk Highway (TH) 13 interchange at Nicollet Avenue in Burnsville for the 2024 Rebuilding American Infrastructure with Sustainability and Equity (RAISE) grant program.
SUMMARY
The Federal Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA) established the RAISE program, a competitive grant program to provide funding for surface transportation infrastructure projects that will improve safety, environmental sustainability, quality of life, mobility and community connectivity, economic competitiveness and opportunity, state of good repair, partnership and collaboration, and innovation. For fiscal year 2024, the RAISE program has $1,500,000,000 available for funding across the nation, with not more than half of that amount available to rural projects. Applications are due February 28, 2024.
The City of Burnsville is requesting a letter of support for the TH 13 and Nicollet Avenue Mobility Improvements project for submittal to the RAISE grant. This project will improve safety and the overall operations for commuters, freight, transit, pedestrians, and cyclists throughout the transportation network by converting an at-grade intersection into a grade-separated intersection.
