PURPOSE/ACTION REQUESTED
Receive an update on the Regional County Youth Placement Workgroup including regional continuum of care framework and associated policy and legislative funding proposals.
SUMMARY
A Regional County Youth Placement Workgroup was established in October 2024 to develop a plan to address placement options for county-connected youth with complex needs. The workgroup includes representation from Anoka, Carver, Dakota, Hennepin, Scott, Ramsey and Washington counties in the metro, as well as St. Louis, Olmsted, and Stearns counties. A regional approach allows counties to work together to address the needs of our youth, instead of competing for limited resources such as providers, services, and staffing. Counties can leverage their individual and collective strengths and capacities to create a continuum of care that supports youth with complex mental health needs and their families.
The workgroup has developed a preliminary report that includes initial recommendations and legislative policy and funding proposals (Attachment: Preliminary Report).
Staff will summarize the preliminary report, plans for future work, and potential impact for Dakota County youth.
