RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, the Recycling Zone Plus is included in the amended 2023 Building Capital Improvement Program Budget; and
WHEREAS, the design team, led by LHB Architects and Engineers, met with the Core Planning Group five times to develop the Schematic Design for Recycling Zone Plus; and
WHEREAS, the 21,602-square-foot facility provides space for the sorting of reuse products from household hazardous waste, sorting by hazard categories, packing, bulking, weighing, and safe storage of hazardous waste; and
WHEREAS, there will be a small office component to the project with multi-use space for staff, training, and other public meetings, and this part of the building also contains a reuse space where patrons can get materials diverted from the waste stream at no cost; and
WHEREAS, site features include a check-in station, queuing for about 50 vehicles, a self-drop area, and a detached garage; and
WHEREAS, the Schematic Design project cost estimate is $14,344,244 over the approved project budget; and
WHEREAS, staff recommends that the County Board approve the schematic design as presented by County staff to the Physical Development Committee of the Whole on November 21, 2023.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, That the Dakota County Board of Commissioners hereby approves the recommended Schematic Design for Recycling Zone Plus as presented to the Physical Development Committee of the Whole on November 21, 2023.
