RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, Dakota County receives annual allocations of Local Homeless Prevention Aid (LHPA) from the Minnesota Department of Revenue through December 31, 2032; and

WHEREAS, the 2026 Social Services LHPA budget is currently $996,916 and needs to increase by $54,980 to reflect the 2026 LHPA Allocation to Dakota County of $1,051,896.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, That the Dakota County Board of Commissioners hereby authorizes the County Manager, or delegate, to accept additional Local Homeless Prevention Aid funds annual allocations through December 31, 2032; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That the 2026 Social Services Budget is hereby amended as follows to reflect the increased Local Homeless Prevention Aid Allocation to Dakota County in 2026:

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That the Dakota County Board of Commissioners hereby authorizes the Finance Department to amend future annual Social Services budgets through 2032 to reflect the updated annual Local Homeless Prevention Aid allocation to Dakota County.

BACKGROUND
Local Homeless Prevention Aid (LHPA) was created by the 2021 Minnesota Legislature (Minn. Stat. 477A.30) to help local governments ensure no child is homeless within a local jurisdiction by keeping families from losing housing and helping those experiencing homelessness find housing. Funding is distributed to counties and tribes as an allocation from the Minnesota Department of Revenue (MDR).
