Authorization To Execute Second Amendment To Agreement Between Criminal Justice Network Joint Powers Organization And County Of Dakota For Information Technology Services
end
PURPOSE/ACTION REQUESTED
Authorize the Deputy County Manager to execute the second amendment to the agreement between the Criminal Justice Network (CJN) Joint Powers Organization and the County of Dakota for information technology services for the year 2026.
SUMMARY
The Criminal Justice Network (CJN) is comprised of the police departments of eight cities in the county, Dakota County, and the Dakota County Sheriff's Office. CJN became a joint powers organization in 2022 after being part of Dakota County government since its inception. At the time CJN became a joint powers organization, it entered into several agreements with Dakota County to provide various services, including one for information technology services. The information technology services provided by Dakota County include general information technology support, desktop support, electronic communications, application and data hosting, computer security and network connectivity.
The original agreement between Dakota County and CJN ran through 2023 and was amended to include the years 2024 and 2025. CJN has requested a one-year extension to allow additional time for their records management system update and data transition to be completed. County staff has reviewed this option and determined it is feasible to continue to provide these services for an additional year. County staff has negotiated with CJN to increase the fee associated with the estimated work in 2026 (Attachment: 2nd Amendment to CJN-IT Services). No additional staff members are needed to provide these services.
