Proclaim the week of April 7-13, 2024 as National Library Week in Dakota County.
SUMMARY
The American Library Association promotes "National Library Week as an annual celebration highlighting the valuable role libraries, librarians and library workers play in transforming lives and strengthening our communities." The theme this year is "Ready, Set, Library!" promoting the idea that libraries offer something special in the community - a place to connect with others, and learn new skills.
To fulfill its mission of cultivating community, creativity and learning, Dakota County Library offers learning opportunities, spaces to gather and meet, and even have fun for county residents of all ages.
In 2023:
* The library had 4.08 million checkouts.
* Library staff welcomed 1.24 million in-person visits.
* Library staff held 1,922 events with 58,371 attendances.
* Library staff facilitated 14,121 meeting room reservations.
* Library staff supported 6,304 iLAB reservations.
* Through its services, the library provided over $1.4 million in support to county entrepreneurs and small business.
* The library Community Engagement Van visited 53 community events and connected with almost 5000 residents.
* 954 customers registered for Self-Service Hours.
Library staff continue to be innovative, developing new services and events, based on customer feedback, to continue offering those learning, gathering and fun opportunities to residents. During National Library Week, all county residents are invited to explore the opportunities at their library.
